Are you a Classical Homeschooler? If our Homeschool Type quiz identified you as a Classical Homeschooler, then you’re in the right place. (Not sure? Take the quiz here.)
Classical homeschooling is an approach to education that is based on the ancient Greek and Roman model of education. (Great! What does that mean?)
It emphasizes the study of the liberal arts and the development of critical thinking skills. The classical education model teaches children HOW to think . . . not WHAT to think. Your children will learn how to think critically and convey those thoughts eloquently both in speech and writing.
Here are some of the most popular curriculum options for classical homeschoolers:
Memoria Press: Memoria Press is a popular curriculum for classical homeschoolers. It offers a comprehensive program that includes subjects such as language arts, math, history, science, and Latin. Memoria Press uses a classical approach that emphasizes the study of classical literature, grammar, and rhetoric. The curriculum is designed to be rigorous and challenging, with a strong emphasis on critical thinking skills. You can purchase their materials in grade level bundles, or a la carte, if you’d like to pick and choose. They even have read aloud bundles which look fabulous!

Overall, these are some of the top curriculum options for classical homeschoolers. Each curriculum has its unique approach to education, so it’s important to carefully consider your educational goals and teaching style. When choosing a curriculum, be sure to also consider your child’s learning style and interests. (And be sure to subscribe to our email list, because we’ll have a new quiz soon for determining your child’s learning style.) Any one of these curriculum options would give you a great start to providing your family with the richness and rigor of the Classical approach to homeschooling. But remember, the curriculum you choose is only meant to be a tool for you, it’s not meant to be your master. (You can read more about my thoughts on that in my Quick Start guide by purchasing that HERE.) And if you’re curious about what we use in our homeschool, check out the final post in this series.
